Classical music: Madison Bach Musicians will hold their sixth annual summer workshops on baroque music online July 28-31. Registration ends July 26

The Ear has received the following announcement to post from the Madison Bach Musicians – who are known for their authentic interpretations with period instruments and historically informed performance practices:

“We have reinvented our 6th Annual Summer Chamber Music Workshop in response to the Covid-19 and the coronavirus pandemic. “We are now offering virtual classes from July 28-31, 2020 online via Zoom! “If you’ve always wanted to learn more about baroque music, or if you have missed our pre-concert talks, indulge your curiosity by signing up for any number of our nine classes taught by our engaging faculty.  In addition, we offer private  lessons for instrumentalists. “REGISTRATION IS OPEN UNTIL JULY 26.  “Below is a list of classes. Should We Use a Baroque Bow? with Kangwon Kim (11 a.m. Tuesday) Comparing Baroque Music Recordings with Martha Vallon (7 p.m. Tuesday) Basics of Baroque Ornamentation with Jason Moy (11 a.m. Wednesday) Playing a Fugue with Micah Behr (3 p.m. Wednesday) Baroque Dance with Sarah Edgar (7 p.m. Wednesday) “Greensleeves” to a Ground: Group Play, One at a Time with Lisette Kielson (11 a.m. Thursday) J.S. Bach and His Early Influences with Jason Moy (7 p.m. Thursday) Continuo Class for Cellists  with Martha Vallon (11 a.m. Friday)  The Interaction of Sound and Silence: Articulation in 18th-Century Music with Trevor Stephenson (7 p.m. Friday) We offer single class options for $30 each, four classes for $100, and all nine for $220. Private lessons are $50 per 45 minutes with the teacher of your choice. We hope to meet up with you online via Zoom in July and look forward to seeing you in person when it is safe.
